It's a 50% - 50%,
I think it benefits both the sponsor as well as the Contestants.
There are many SEOs who have made their career participating in the SEO contests. I know a friend of mine who has made all the way to the top and is now a very notable person in this community.
yes, but again, it does help the SEO Sponsor to brand themselves. But, that's fine. |

I think it helps us SEOs a lot.
One of my friend instantly got a job in the biggest hosting company in my country.
He was only placed 10'th in google.com, yet it did make a difference. |
